Sooner you know…Better will be your life!
Many of us are doing our jobs 5 days a week or 6 days a week irrespective of any sector. We are “happy” about our jobs and try our best to fulfill or exceed the desired duties expected from the job position. We get our checks bi-weekly or monthly and life goes on. This is important for us to bring food on the table for us or our families. We start to accumulate experience in your field from months to several years.
Believe me, most of us give priority to our Boss phone over kids’ important conversation or wife’s important call. Regardless of sacrificing family life during weekdays or weekends and putting extra hours in the job, we always have job security issues. We still have this hanging sword on our neck about either firing or being laid off from the job. Why is this happening?
Over the period, you have learned the knowledge and have desired skill sets to perform the job. You know each thing about your assigned tasks. You were an invaluable asset of the organization till Friday of that week. Suddenly, your organizations don’t require your skill sets, as they must do “cost-cutting”. So how and why is this banging up on us?
But have you ever thought about how your task contributes to the organization’s economic growth? Do we know how our organization generates money? Is our organization really making profit? Or cost cutting is the famous strategy of New CEO for his indulgence of buying another vacation home or his luxurious hobbies?
Well, whether you are doing a job or have your own business, you need to understand the fundamentals of business. You should know how money is coming to and going out of your organization? This will allow you to have a better estimate of the financial growth of your organization. To understand this, you should not have graduated in finance, or you should not be CFO (chief financial officer). So where can you get this knowledge? Ok. I am not recommending enrolling in crash courses in business or finance. If you know simple math like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentage, you can easily understand business. But where can you get this knowledge?
Recently, I came across the book entitled “WHAT YOUR CEO WANTS YOU TO KNOW? / HOW YOUR COMPANY REALLY WORKS?’ This book is written by Ram Charan. The language of the book is very simple and doesn’t have fancy indigestible English vocabulary. Most importantly this book is very small. You can finish this book in a day or not more than a week. This book will provide you with an important diagnostic weapon to assess your own organization past, current, and prospectus growth. Most importantly it will provide you a guiding torch to open your economic eye. This is an important skill set that will guide you to make an important professional decision such as “Do You Want to Be Part of Your Current Organization?”.
So, are you ready to understand the economics of your company? If your answer is YES, start reading this book. This book is on AMAZON.
